Structure of the
Attleboro Police Department
The Attleboro Police Department is led by
Chief Richard Pierce and is composed of 75 sworn police officers. This
staff is made up of 49 patrol officers, 8 detectives, 8 sergeants, 5
lieutenants and 3 captains. The organization is supported by 9 full-time E911 telecommunicators and 4 civilian employees.
The Department is comprised of 5 divisions;
Patrol, Detective, Community Policing, Prosecution and Service.
The Patrol Division is responsible for
general services (emergency and non-emergency), initial investigation of
all crimes and traffic law enforcement.
The Detective Division handles long-term
investigations and major crimes. The Detectives also work jointly with the
Bristol County Drug Task Force, the Massachusetts State Police and various
federal agencies.
The Community Policing Division is composed
of the bicycle patrol,
Crime
Prevention/Safety Office,
Drug Abuse Resistance
Education (D.A.R.E.) program, juvenile services and the Citizen's
Police Academy.
The Prosecution Division, in conjunction
with the Bristol County District Attorney's office, is responsible for
bringing criminal cases before the Massachusetts Trial Courts.
The Service Division handles administrative
matters; such as licensing, purchasing and maintenance.
