False Alarm Ordinance - Registration Required
Recently, the City of Attleboro enacted an ordinance relative to the
regulation of residential and commercial alarms. The purpose of this
new regulation is to encourage alarm users and alarm companies to
properly use and maintain the operational effectiveness of alarm
systems within the City of Attleboro. This ordinance is necessary to
improve the reliability of alarm systems and reduce or eliminate false
alarms.
This regulation governs alarm systems intended to summon the Attleboro
Police Department. An alarm registration is now required for each
alarm system. Each alarm site must be registered by December 31, 2006.
There is no fee to register your alarm.
An alarm registration form may
be obtained below or at the Attleboro Police
Department. (read

Rape Aggression Defense System
The
Rape Aggression Defense System is a program of realistic, self-defense
tactics and techniques. The R.A.D. System is a comprehensive course for
women that begin with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance,
while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training. R.A.D. is
not a martial arts program. Our courses are taught by certified R.A.D.
instructors and provide you with a workbook/reference manual. This manual
outlines the entire physical defense program for reference and continuous
personal growth.
The R.A.D. System of Physical Defense is currently being taught at many
venues. The growing, wide-spread acceptance of this system is primarily
due to the ease, simplicity and effectiveness of our tactics, solid
research, legal defensibility and unique teaching methodology. (read

Recently the Attleboro Police Department incorporated a comprehensive
emergency notification system called REVERSE 911. The REVERSE 911
system, manufactured by Sigma Communications of Indianapolis, Indiana,
is an Interactive Community Notification System that is used
effectively in thousands of U.S. communities to dramatically improve
the lines of communication to the general population and targeted
groups of citizens. The system provides timely and immediate
notification of critical information in times of crisis and
emergencies, such as natural disasters, missing children and crime
alerts.

Donate Your Wireless Phones for a
Cause!
Wireless phones offer a lifeline for
victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Often isolated and
sadly in need of an emergency response, victims need immediate access
to 9-1-1 services and 24-hour hotlines.
Thanks to the generosity of the wireless industry and the public, New Hope can provide wireless phones to people in need. The phones are
programmed to call 9-1-1 and the statewide domestic violence hotline,
SafeLink.
Wireless phones can be dropped off at Police
Headquarters anytime.
